SHHHHH...... WE'VE GOT A SECRET!
Do you want us to tell you the secrets of a millionaire right away? OK, but I have a question for you first: which are you more likely to notice in your life, obstacles or opportunities?
Over the past several articles, we've noted that wealthy people think different from poor people - about money and just about everything else as well. Their different ways of thinking have everything to do with how they became rich.
Now it's time to look at how rich people see the world around them. They actively look for opportunities - and they find them.
Just like the other "millionaire mind secrets", this one is linked to making choices. As your thoughts change, so do your choices. You have probably noticed yourself thinking in old patterns, been able to stop yourself, and substituted the new patterns of though for the old ones, as wealthy people do. In this case, you can notice when you perceive obstacles - and switch to perceiving opportunities.
Keep in mind that just reading and thinking about this work is not enough. You must find ways to put it into practice every day in order to create permanent and lasting changes in the way that you relate to money.
And by the way... congratulations! With your new "wealth files", you're well on your way to mastering the success principles and secrets of the millionaires!
Wealth File #5
Rich people focus on opportunities.
Poor people focus on obstacles.
It may seem obvious that everybody looks for opportunities, and wishes to avoid obstacles.
Obvious, and yet many people forget to look for opportunities. They're too busy avoiding obstacles! Yet, since this is where they put their attention, this is what they learn to see. You must practice looking for opportunities.
Focus on finding opportunities, and you'll succeed. Once you find and take advantage of just a few of them, the direction of your life will be forever changed.
How do you know if you are truly expecting success? It will show in your actions and by your thoughts. Do you move forward, sharing your dreams, involving other people, and using your enthusiasm and creativity? Or are you too busy attending to little details in the background?
Wealthy people like T Harv Eker, author of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, knows that conditions will never be perfect. If you focus too much on getting your ducks in a row, you'll just end up quackers.
Rich people take plenty of risks - but, of course, they make educated ones. They research, ask for advice, learn about the risk factors, and make their decisions based on solid information. And they do all of that at a brisk pace, because taking too long to make a decision is a risk in and of itself.
Poor people, on the other hand, tend to take far too long to prepare for their risks. Sometimes they prepare forever! (We call this stalling.) Opportunities pass them by while they're getting ready.
When rich people expect to succeed, they do so confidently and with faith in their abilities to handle what comes their way. They know that when times are tough, they'll find another route to their goals.
Wonderful things happen once you get in the game. Your choices lead to a course of events, and especially opportunities, that take you to new and unimagined places. Your path will take twists and turns like the path of a river - and like a river, while it might seem to meander sometimes, it is always flowing inexorably toward wealth.
As you already know, the secrets of a millionaire mind aren't really secrets. You probably have a business idea or two in mind that you might try out, once you get everything in order.
Guess what? You'll never have everything perfectly in order. Get going just as soon as you possibly can. The more you're doing, the more you'll learn. Get in there and teach yourself some success principles through trial and error right now!
Be positive. There will always be problems or obstacles. Expect that. Then look for ways to turn them into opportunities. It will be tremendously irritating to people who didn't believe you could succeed in business (and there's always a naysayer, too). So... great! You'll have fun annoying them. Plus, they deserve it.
Focus on what you have right now, rather than what you wish you had or hope to have. Experience gratitude. This is a good time to make a list of the things you are grateful in life. After you've made your list, read it out loud every morning for a month. Remember that you can choose gratitude, just like you can choose wealth.
Keep it up, and the secrets of a millionaire will be yours sooner than you think.
